Modern Slavery Statement

Organisation Structure, Business, and Supply Chains

InSignLanguage Ltd was founded in 2017 to provide Video Relay Services (VRS) via its proprietary app, enabling Deaf individuals and businesses to access British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters. Our services support accessibility and communication through real-time sign language interpretation.

We work with a network of Registered Sign Language Interpreters, communication professionals, and technology providers to deliver our services. Our supply chain primarily consists of professional interpreting services, software development partners, and operational suppliers.

Policies in Relation to Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking

InSignLanguage is committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in all aspects of our business and supply chain. We uphold ethical standards and have policies in place to ensure our suppliers and partners adhere to these principles.

These policies include:

  • A Supplier Code of Conduct, requiring compliance with human rights and fair labor practices.

  • An Ethical Procurement Policy, ensuring that services and products sourced align with our values of fairness and equality.

  • A Whistleblowing Policy, allowing staff and suppliers to report any concerns confidentially.

Due Diligence Processes

Our due diligence measures include:

  • Conducting risk assessments of suppliers and contractors to identify potential risks of modern slavery.

  • Requiring key suppliers to confirm adherence to anti-slavery policies.

  • Ensuring contracts contain clauses that require compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

  • Reviewing the effectiveness of these processes annually.

Risk Assessment and Management

While InSignLanguage operates within a low-risk sector, we remain vigilant about potential risks within our supply chain.

Our approach includes:

  • Engaging only with registered and accredited interpreters and service providers.

  • Partnering with ethical technology and operational suppliers.

  • Regularly reviewing supply chain practices to identify and mitigate risks.

  • Implementing a risk-based approach to supplier selection and monitoring.

Measuring Effectiveness

To ensure compliance and effectiveness in combatting modern slavery, we:

  • Require annual supplier confirmations of compliance with modern slavery laws.

  • Conduct internal reviews and supplier audits where appropriate.

  • Encourage reporting of any concerns through our confidential whistleblowing process.

  • Use key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of our policies and procedures.

Training and Capacity Building

We are committed to raising awareness among our staff and suppliers.

Training is provided on:

  • Identifying signs of modern slavery and human trafficking.

  • Understanding responsibilities under the Modern Slavery Act.

  • Reporting and addressing any concerns effectively.

  • Enhancing capacity building for our staff to maintain a vigilant and ethical approach to modern slavery risks.

Statement Compliance

InSignLanguage is not a relevant commercial organisation under Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, as our turnover is below £36 million. However, we are committed to maintaining transparency and ethical business practices. This statement is provided in response to the SQ requirements and serves as our commitment to tackling modern slavery within our operations and supply chain.
