Deaf Awareness Training Terms

Terms for Deaf awareness training and workshops, delivered in person or online.

England & Wales

InSignLanguage Ltd — last updated 22 July 2026 — version 0.1 draft

These terms cover Deaf awareness training and workshops, delivered in person or online. They sit alongside our Terms and Conditions of Service, which apply in full; where the two differ, these terms govern training.

1. Booking

A booking is confirmed when we accept it in writing and you accept the quote. The quote states the session length, the number of participants included, whether it is in person or online, and what you need to provide.

2. Numbers and joining

Training works at the size it was designed for. Each quote states a maximum participant number. Going over it changes the session, so tell us in advance and we will requote or split the group.

Sessions are interactive. Where a session is delivered by a Deaf trainer working with an interpreter, participants join with camera on where they reasonably can — signed communication needs to be seen.

3. What you provide

  • In person: a room with clear sightlines, good lighting on the trainer, and seating that lets everyone see. Poor sightlines or backlighting make signed training unusable.

  • Online: a platform we have agreed, with the joining link circulated in advance and a named contact reachable during the session.

  • Any access requirements among participants, at least five working days ahead, so we can arrange support.

4. Materials

We keep ownership of our training materials, slides and exercises. You and your participants get a licence to use them internally for your own learning. You may not deliver our material as your own training, sell it, or pass it to a third party.

5. Recording

Sessions are not recorded by default. Recording needs our written agreement in advance, and the agreement of the trainer, any interpreter and every participant — because a recording captures identifiable people, including anyone who discloses something personal in the room.

Where recording is agreed, we will confirm what it may be used for and for how long.

6. Changing or cancelling

Training is booked as a whole day or session and the trainer's time is reserved for you. Cancellation and rescheduling follow the Cancellation Schedule. One reschedule at no charge if you give us 2 weeks or more notice; after that, a session moved at short notice is treated as a cancellation.

If we have to move a session — illness, or a trainer becoming unavailable — we will offer the earliest alternative date or a full refund, at your choice.

15 Days or more, no fee

7 days or more, 50% Fee

1-6 Days, Full Fee

7. Certificates and outcomes

Where a session leads to a certificate of attendance, we issue it for those who attended the whole session. Deaf awareness training builds understanding and confidence; it does not qualify anyone as an interpreter or as a signer, and we will not describe it as doing so.

8. Feedback

We ask every participant for feedback and use it to improve. Feedback is handled under our Privacy

Notice. If something falls short, tell us through our Complaints Procedure.
