About us
Dialogue Hub CIC is a community-focused social enterprise dedicated to creating inclusive spaces and meaningful opportunities. We currently run two cafés — Dialogue Café at UEL and Dialogue Express Café at Stratford.
Our cafés are unique in that we employ and train deaf baristas alongside hearing staff, creating an environment that promotes deaf awareness, accessibility, and community connection. Through food, coffee, and culture, we bring people together while offering valuable employment and training opportunities for those who may face barriers in the workplace.
Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Chef to join the team at Dialogue Express Café. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a café or similar environment, with strong skills in preparing and presenting fresh, high-quality food.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook a range of café menu items including sandwiches, bagels, pizzas, pastries, and baked goods
Ensure consistency and quality in food preparation and presentation
Operate and maintain kitchen equipment, including Merrychef ovens
Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic kitchen environment in line with food safety standards
Assist with menu development and contribute creative ideas for daily specials or events
Requirements
Previous experience as a chef, ideally within a café, bakery, or casual dining environment
Strong knowledge of baking and food preparation (sandwiches, bagels, pizza, pastries)
Experience using Merrychef ovens is essential or knowledge of using ovens
Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
Good organisational and time management skills
Barista skills are desirable but not essential
