Co-worked RSLI Online — Evenings
Two Registered Sign Language Interpreters in your meeting, weekday evenings
Service Description
Two registered BSL interpreters in your evening event, on the platform you already use. We name both before we confirm, and there is nothing to pay until it has been delivered. Two Registered Sign Language Interpreters working as a pair, joining online, weekday evenings between 17:00 and 22:00. This is how interpreting is delivered for anything that is not a one-to-one conversation - not an upgrade, and not something you have to justify. EVENING EVENTS, PROPERLY COVERED Evening webinars and public meetings, AGMs, panel events, award evenings, consultations, training after hours, branch and committee meetings. The audience turns up in the evening because that is when they can, and the interpreting has to be as good then as at eleven in the morning. WORKING TO A STANDARD, NOT JUST A CONNECTION Every session is delivered remotely by registered interpreters working to our own standards and to ASLI's best-practice guidance for video interpreting: preparation before the day, what the interpreter must be able to see and hear, pacing and turn-taking, rest breaks, and when a second interpreter is required. Remote is not a lighter version of the work. That guidance exists precisely because a video link takes something away, and the working practices are what put it back. WHY TWO Continuity. One interpreter can sustain a conversation between two people. Beyond that - a programme, several speakers, an audience - the interpreting has to run without a break in it, and that takes a pair. THE SCREEN IS MORE TIRING THAN THE ROOM Interpreting accuracy is known to fall away after around thirty minutes of continuous work, and online it comes on sooner: a video link strips out depth, peripheral vision and the natural cues of a room, so the interpreter is working harder to read less. In the evening, at the end of everyone's day, that matters more, not less. A pair holds the quality steady from the first minute to the last. HOW A PAIR WORKS ONLINE Working as co-interpreters, they switch lead roles every 15 to 20 minutes, or whenever a natural transition point arises. Even when not actively signing, the support interpreter is fully engaged - tracking names and figures, feeding terminology, correcting in real time. Neither is a spare. Both are on the call throughout, so the handover is seamless and your event does not stop for it. CONFIRMED BY A PERSON, NOT A SCREEN Our interpreters are on shift during weekday hours. Evenings are sourced individually, so this is a request rather than an instant booking - and that is deliberate. We find both interpreters, they accept the work, and then we confirm to you. You will never hold a confirmation for an evening nobody has agreed to cover. Book at least 14 days ahead. Two interpreters free the same evening is the scarcest booking there is, and a fortnight is what makes it findable. If your date is sooner, ask anyway. You are not charged until the service has been delivered. If your finance team would rather pay in advance, you can. Cancel or reschedule free of charge up to seven days before the start. WHY ORGANISATIONS BOOK THIS Organisations have duties under the Equality Act 2010 to make reasonable adjustments so that Deaf people are not put at a disadvantage. Booking registered interpreters is how that is met for an event - and it leaves a record: named professionals, a written confirmation and an invoice. If a Deaf participant is in work, Access to Work may fund their interpreting. Ask us before you book and we will tell you whether it is likely to qualify. TWO INTERPRETERS, WITHOUT THE TRAVEL PROBLEM Two interpreters free the same evening, who work well together, and who can both reach your venue and get home afterwards - that is the hardest booking there is to make in person. Online, the travel constraint disappears, so we pair for skill and compatibility rather than for postcode. The fee matches the equivalent in-person evening service, because the interpreting is the same demanding work. What you save is the travel for two people. WE JOIN YOU Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, or whatever you already use. Send the platform and joining link with your booking - or ask us to set up a Teams link for you. WHAT IS INCLUDED Both interpreters for the full booked period, their preparation, and their rest breaks. We name both to you before the day. Every interpreter is registered, bound by the NRCPD code of conduct including confidentiality, and carries their own indemnity insurance. PRICE Evening sessions run from two hours up to a full five-hour evening - what fits between 17:00 and 22:00. Prices cover both interpreters and include VAT: two hours £1,080, three hours £1,230, four hours £1,485, a full evening £1,740. If any part is recorded, that is agreed in writing beforehand and costs £550 a full day or £275 for less. Tell us what the evening is on the booking form and we will confirm the right number of interpreters.
Cancellation Policy
This policy covers this service only - TWO Registered Sign Language Interpreters as a pair, online, outside standard weekday hours. Evening and weekend rates apply to the whole booking. WHEN THIS RUNS Evenings: weekdays 17:00 to 22:00, two to five hours, finishing by 22:00. Weekends: Saturdays and Sundays 09:00 to 17:00, two hours to a full day. 1. CONFIRMING YOUR BOOKING 1.1 A request, not an instant booking. On-shift interpreters cover weekday hours only, so we source both and confirm once they accept. 1.2 Book at least 14 days ahead; cover for a pair is the scarcest there is. 1.3 The form requires a link or a file - both prepare from it. 1.4 Tell us the setting and subject. Personal, legal and medical work must be identified. 2. THE MEETING IS YOURS 2.1 You host. Tell us the platform and joining link, or ask us to set up a Teams link. 2.2 If the link changes, send the new one at once. 2.3 Admit both. A waiting room that holds one of them breaks the handover. 2.4 Camera on for anyone speaking and every Deaf participant. Pin whoever is leading. One speaker at a time. 2.5 Send any shared screen as a file or link too. 3. YOUR INTERPRETERS 3.1 Both attend throughout and the fee covers both. We name both to you before the day. 3.2 They change the lead at intervals they agree; the one not leading is still working. 3.3 If one cannot attend we replace them, or you proceed with one at the single price or cancel free. 3.4 A weekend full day is six hours. Beyond six hours, £127.50 an hour per interpreter. 4. BREAKS 4.1 Changing the lead is not a break. Expect a rest break in any session, and lunch on a full day. 5. RECORDING 5.1 Tell us at booking if any part will be recorded. Saying yes is not permission: both interpreters must agree, in writing. It costs £550 a full day or £275 for less. 5.2 Platform recording and auto-transcription capture them too. Leave off unless agreed. 6. PAYING, CANCELLING AND RESCHEDULING 6.1 Nothing to pay when you book; we invoice after delivery. To pay in advance, tell us. 6.2 Cancel or reschedule free up to 7 days before the start. Inside 7 days the booking stands and is charged in full. 6.3 If nobody joins, or the link fails and we cannot reach you, it is charged in full. 6.4 Consumers keep their statutory rights in full. If we cancel, we do not charge. 6.5 Interpreters need not wait more than 15 minutes past the start. Our Terms and Conditions of Service govern; where this differs, they apply. bookings@insignlanguage.co.uk
