From 360 British pounds
Online

Service Description

A registered BSL interpreter in your Teams, Zoom or Google Meet call. Confirmed the moment you book, and there is nothing to pay until it has been delivered. One Registered Sign Language Interpreter, joining online for one Deaf person, weekdays between 09:00 and 17:00. CONFIRMED WHEN YOU BOOK, PAID AFTERWARDS Online needs a fortnight's notice, not a month. There is no venue to check, no travel to arrange and no interpreter crossing the country, so we can move quickly. And because we hold interpreters on shift for online work, your booking is confirmed the moment you make it. Not a request under consideration - a date. If you need something sooner than fourteen days, ask anyway and we will tell you straight away whether we can cover it. You are not charged until the service has been delivered. If your finance team would rather pay in advance, you can. Cancel or reschedule free of charge up to seven days before the start. A NAMED INTERPRETER, NOT A CALL CENTRE There are two quite different things people mean by remote interpreting. One is an on-demand video line where you take whoever answers. This is the other kind: a named, registered interpreter, booked for your meeting, who has read your material beforehand. We tell you who they are before the day. ASLI's best-practice guidance for video interpreting draws exactly this distinction. It is the difference between access and a lottery. WORKING TO A STANDARD, NOT JUST A CONNECTION Every session is delivered remotely by a registered interpreter working to our own standards and to that same ASLI guidance: preparation before the day, what the interpreter must be able to see and hear, pacing and turn-taking, rest breaks, and when a second interpreter is required. Remote is not a lighter version of the work. The guidance exists precisely because a video link takes something away, and the working practices are what put it back. WHY ORGANISATIONS BOOK THIS Organisations have duties under the Equality Act 2010 to make reasonable adjustments so that a Deaf person is not put at a disadvantage. Booking a registered interpreter is how that is met for a meeting - and it leaves a record: a named professional, a written confirmation and an invoice. If the Deaf person is in work, Access to Work may fund their interpreting. We deal with Access to Work every day and will tell you whether a booking is likely to qualify. Ask us before you book rather than after. A WIDER CHOICE OF INTERPRETER In person, your options are whoever can travel to you. Online, they are whoever is right for the assignment - a particular specialism, or the same interpreter your Deaf colleague already knows and works well with. That is continuity a local search often cannot deliver. THE SAME WORK, WITHOUT THE TRAVEL Interpreting through a screen is not a lighter version of the job. The interpreter loses depth, peripheral vision and the natural turn-taking cues a room gives them, and adapts how they sign and how they read others to compensate. It is a specialised skill in its own right, which is why the fee matches the equivalent in-person service. What you save is everything around it: no mileage, no rail fares, no travel time, and no geography deciding who we can send. Nothing is lost to a delayed train. WHAT IT COVERS One interpreter, one Deaf person, from two hours to a full day - a team meeting, a supervision, a tutorial, a review, an appointment. Everyone can be somewhere different: hybrid teams, a panel split across sites, someone joining from home. WE JOIN YOU Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, or whatever you already use. Tell us the platform and send the joining link with your booking - or ask us to set up a Teams link for you. There is nothing to install and nothing to buy. WHAT IS INCLUDED The interpreter for the full booked period, their preparation, and their rest breaks. We name them to you before the day. Every interpreter is registered, bound by the NRCPD code of conduct including confidentiality, and carries their own indemnity insurance. PRICE Prices include VAT. A full day is six hours of interpreting; beyond six hours the rate is £85 an hour. If any part is recorded, that is agreed in writing beforehand and costs £550 a full day or £275 for less. If we think your meeting would be better served in person, or needs two interpreters, we will tell you and re-quote - you can take that price or cancel at no cost. NOT QUITE THIS? If the meeting is wider than a one-to-one conversation, it needs a pair - see Co-worked RSLI Online. For a trainee interpreter at 15% less, see One-to-One TSLI Online.

Cancellation Policy

This policy covers this service only - ONE Registered Sign Language Interpreter, online, one Deaf person, weekdays 09:00 to 17:00. 1. THE MEETING IS YOURS 1.1 You host. Tell us the platform and joining link, or ask us to set up a Teams link. 1.2 If the link changes, send the new one at once. 1.3 The interpreter joins early to test sound and video. 2. WHAT THE INTERPRETER NEEDS 2.1 Camera on for anyone speaking, and for the Deaf participant throughout. 2.2 The interpreter pinned for the Deaf participant. 2.3 One speaker at a time, with a chair managing turn-taking. 2.4 Send any shared screen as a file or link too. 3. MAKING A BOOKING 3.1 Book at least 14 days ahead; for shorter notice, contact us. 3.2 Confirmed straight away - we hold interpreters on shift for online work. 3.3 The form requires a link or a file to prepare from. 3.4 Tell us the setting and subject. Personal, legal and medical work must be identified. 4. YOUR INTERPRETER 4.1 One interpreter covers your booking. A full day is six hours of interpreting; beyond six hours, £85 an hour. 4.2 Your booking confirms straight away and we assess it after. If it needs a second interpreter we tell you before the day and re-quote as Co-worked RSLI Online; accept that price or cancel at no cost. 4.3 We never deliver a co-worked assignment at the single-interpreter price. You know how many interpreters are coming, and the cost, before the day. 5. BREAKS 5.1 15 minutes' rest per hour when working continuously - online is more tiring, not less. Breaks are the only safeguard on accuracy; discussion stops. 6. RECORDING 6.1 Tell us at booking if any part will be recorded. Saying yes is not permission: it needs the interpreter's agreement, is in writing, and costs £550 a full day or £275 for less. 6.2 Platform recording and auto-transcription capture the interpreter too. Leave them off unless agreed. 7. PAYING, CANCELLING AND RESCHEDULING 7.1 Nothing to pay when you book; we invoice after delivery. 7.2 Cancel or reschedule free up to 7 days before the start; inside 7 days it stands and is charged in full. 7.3 If nobody joins, or the link fails and we cannot reach you, it is charged in full. 7.4 Consumers keep their statutory rights in full. 7.5 If we cancel, we tell you as soon as we can and do not charge. 7.6 The interpreter need not wait more than 15 minutes past the start. Our Terms and Conditions of Service govern; where this differs, they apply. bookings@insignlanguage.co.uk
