One-to-One RSLI Support — Evenings
A Registered Sign Language Interpreter for one Deaf person, after hours
Service Description
One Registered Sign Language Interpreter, for one Deaf person, on a weekday evening between 17:00 and 22:00. Appointments do not all fall inside office hours. A parents' evening, a clinic that runs late, a union or residents' meeting, an evening class, a family occasion. This is the same work as our weekday one-to-one service, at the hours when most cover has stopped. WHAT IT COVERS One interpreter, one Deaf person, from two hours up to a full five-hour evening - whatever fits between 17:00 and 22:00. Two interpreters working as a pair is the standard way interpreting is staffed. This service is the narrower case: a single Deaf person, one speaker at a time, at conversational pace. Anything wider than that is Co-worked RSLI Support - Evenings. WHY IT COSTS MORE THAN DAYTIME Evening work is unsocial hours. Interpreters are paid more for it and fewer take it, so the fee is higher than the daytime equivalent - and it applies to the whole booking, not only the part after 17:00. You are not being charged a surcharge on top of a day rate; this is the evening rate. WHAT IS INCLUDED The interpreter for the full booked period, their preparation, and their rest breaks. We name them to you before the day, and they arrive early enough to meet the Deaf person and agree how the two of them will work. Every interpreter on this service is registered, bound by the NRCPD code of conduct including confidentiality, and carries their own indemnity insurance. Legal and medical work, and anything touching consent or capacity, is allocated to a Registered Sign Language Interpreter. PRICE Prices include VAT. Two hours £540, three hours £615, four hours £742.50, a full evening £870. Beyond three hours the rate is £127.50 an hour. BOOKING Every request is read by a person before it is confirmed - this is a request, not an instant booking. Once we confirm, we invoice and allocate. Book at least 30 days ahead: evening cover is scarcer than daytime, and thirty days is what makes it findable. Send your preparation material with the booking - the form asks for a link or a file and will not submit without one. NOT QUITE THIS? Use the Book a BSL Interpreter form for face-to-face work, describe the assignment, and we will route it and quote. You do not have to work out the number of interpreters or the right service - tell us what the assignment is and we will confirm it.
Cancellation Policy
This policy covers this service only - ONE interpreter, in person, one Deaf person, outside standard weekday hours. WHEN THIS RUNS Evenings: weekdays 17:00-22:00. Weekends: Sat and Sun 09:00-17:00, up to a full day. Evening and weekend rates apply to the whole booking. Not for weekday daytime, group, event, training or online work. 1. MAKING A BOOKING 1.1 Book at least 30 days ahead; cover out of hours is scarce. 1.2 Every request is read by a person before we confirm. 1.3 The form requires a link or a file to prepare from. 1.4 Tell us the setting and subject. Personal, legal and medical work must be identified. 1.5 Up to three Deaf people; more is a different service. 1.6 Evenings must finish by 22:00. 2. YOUR INTERPRETER 2.1 One interpreter covers your booking. A weekend full day is six hours of interpreting; beyond six hours, £127.50 an hour. 2.2 We assess every booking before we confirm it. If it needs a second interpreter we tell you first and re-quote as Co-worked RSLI Support. 2.3 We never confirm a co-worked assignment at the single-interpreter price. You know how many interpreters you are getting, and the cost, before we confirm. 3. BREAKS 3.1 15 minutes' rest per hour when working continuously; breaks are the only safeguard on accuracy, and discussion stops. 4. PRIVATE RESIDENCES 4.1 Nobody works alone with an individual in a private residence. 4.2 You confirm another adult will be present, or it is charged as a cancellation. 5. CANCELLATION, LATENESS AND NO-SHOWS 5.1 Notice, and the charge: 15+ days - none; 8-14 days - 50%; 7 days or less - 100%; no-show - 100% plus travel. 5.2 Consumers keep their statutory rights in full. 5.3 If we cancel, we tell you promptly and do not charge. 5.4 An interpreter need not wait more than 15 minutes past the start. 6. RECORDING 6.1 Tell us at booking if any part will be recorded. Saying yes is not permission: it needs the interpreter's agreement, is in writing, and costs £550 a full day or £275 for less. 7. TRAVEL AND EXPENSES 7.1 The fee covers the interpreting and the journey; interpreters arrive early at no charge. 7.2 Where nobody is within reasonable reach, travel is quoted at 45p a mile, agreed before we confirm. 7.3 Parking, congestion, clean-air charges and overnight stays are at cost, agreed beforehand. 7.4 Full terms: insignlanguage.co.uk/legal-documents/travel Our Terms and Conditions of Service govern; where this differs, they apply. bookings@insignlanguage.co.uk
