Service Description

A trainee BSL interpreter in your online meeting, at 15% below the Registered rate. Confirmed the moment you book, and there is nothing to pay until it has been delivered. One Trainee Sign Language Interpreter, joining online for one Deaf person, weekdays between 09:00 and 17:00. A TSLI is a trainee on the NRCPD register: qualified to interpret, working towards full registration, and bound by the same code of conduct as every registered interpreter. CONFIRMED WHEN YOU BOOK, PAID AFTERWARDS Online needs a fortnight's notice, not a month. There is no venue to check and no travel to arrange, so we can move quickly - and because we hold interpreters on shift for online work, your booking is confirmed the moment you make it. If your date is sooner than fourteen days, ask anyway. You are not charged until the service has been delivered. You can pay in advance if you prefer. Cancel or reschedule free of charge up to seven days before the start. A RECOGNISED ROUTE, NOT A COMPROMISE Planned online work is where the profession expects trainees to build. ASLI's best-practice guidance for video interpreting identifies pre-booked online settings as appropriate for regulated trainee interpreters, with the work matched to their skill level. Matching it is our job, not yours. Tell us what the meeting is on the booking form and we take it from there. If it turns out to need a Registered interpreter, we will say so and re-quote - you can take that price or cancel at no cost. WORKING TO A STANDARD, NOT JUST A CONNECTION Every session is delivered remotely by an interpreter working to our own standards and to that same ASLI guidance: preparation before the day, what the interpreter must be able to see and hear, pacing and turn-taking, rest breaks, and when a second interpreter is required. Remote is not a lighter version of the work. The guidance exists precisely because a video link takes something away, and the working practices are what put it back. WHAT IT IS GOOD FOR Regular, planned online access where the ground is familiar: team meetings and catch-ups, supervision, tutorials and study support, community and social groups, club and society meetings, everyday appointments. A BETTER PRICE, AND A WIDER CHOICE Online removes the travel constraint, so we can match on skill and continuity rather than geography. At 15% below the Registered rate, a standing weekly meeting becomes affordable to interpret properly rather than occasionally. If the Deaf person is in work, Access to Work may fund their interpreting. We deal with Access to Work every day and will tell you whether a booking is likely to qualify. Ask us before you book rather than after. WHY IT MATTERS The hours a trainee builds with you are part of how the next generation of interpreters qualifies. There are not enough interpreters in this country, and this is one of the ways that changes. THE SAME WORK, WITHOUT THE TRAVEL Interpreting through a screen is not a lighter version of the job - it takes more adaptation, not less - so the fee matches the equivalent in-person service at this tier. What you save is the travel: no mileage, no rail fares, no travel time. WE JOIN YOU Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, or whatever you already use. Send the platform and joining link with your booking - or ask us to set up a Teams link for you. WHAT IS INCLUDED The interpreter for the full booked period, their preparation, and their rest breaks. We name them to you before the day, and we tell you they are a trainee. They are on the NRCPD register, bound by its code of conduct including confidentiality, and carry their own indemnity insurance. PRICE Prices include VAT and sit 15% below the Registered equivalent. A full day is six hours of interpreting; beyond six hours the rate is £72.25 an hour. This service is not available for recorded or broadcast work - that needs a Registered interpreter.
