Service Description

One Trainee Sign Language Interpreter, for one Deaf person, weekday evenings between 17:00 and 22:00. A TSLI is a trainee on the NRCPD register - qualified to interpret, working towards full registration, and still building the hours behind it. Booking a trainee is how the profession grows, and it costs 15% less than the Registered equivalent. WHAT THIS SERVICE IS FOR Everything that happens after the working day: evening classes, clubs and societies, rehearsals, residents' meetings, union branches, community events, social occasions. One interpreter, one Deaf person, from two hours up to a full five-hour evening. WHY IT COSTS MORE THAN A WEEKDAY Evening work is unsocial hours. Interpreters are paid more for it and fewer take it, so the fee is higher than the weekday equivalent and it applies to the whole booking. It is still 15% below the Registered evening rate. WHAT IT IS NOT FOR We do not send a trainee where the outcome turns on the interpreting being right first time. If your assignment involves someone's health or treatment, their money, job or livelihood, their liberty or legal position, a child or an adult at risk, specialist technical content throughout, or anything recorded or broadcast - that is RSLI work. So is any assignment where the Deaf person has asked for a Registered interpreter. Tell us what the assignment is and we will make that judgement before we confirm. If it needs an RSLI we will say so and re-quote; you can take the RSLI price or cancel at no cost. We would rather lose the booking than put a trainee somewhere they should not be. WHAT IS INCLUDED The interpreter for the full booked period, their preparation, and their rest breaks. We name them to you before the day and we tell you they are a trainee. BOOKING AND PRICE Bookings run from two hours up to a full five-hour evening - whatever fits between 17:00 and 22:00. Prices include VAT and sit 15% below the Registered equivalent: two hours £459, three hours £522.75, four hours £631.25, a full evening £739.75. Beyond three hours the rate is £108.50 an hour. Every request is read by a person before it is confirmed. Book at least 30 days ahead, and send your preparation material with the booking. NOT QUITE THIS? If you need a Registered Sign Language Interpreter, use One-to-One RSLI Support - Evenings. If the assignment is wider than a one-to-one conversation, it needs a pair.
