Service Description

One Trainee Sign Language Interpreter, for one Deaf person, weekdays between 09:00 and 17:00. A TSLI is a trainee on the NRCPD register - qualified to interpret, working towards full registration, and still building the hours behind it. Booking a trainee is how the profession grows, and it costs 15% less than the Registered equivalent. WHAT THIS SERVICE IS FOR Everyday access where the stakes are ordinary: a team meeting, a training session, a college tutorial, a community event, a social occasion, a routine appointment. One interpreter, one Deaf person, from two hours to a full day. WHAT IT IS NOT FOR We do not send a trainee where the outcome turns on the interpreting being right first time. If your assignment involves someone's health or treatment, their money, job or livelihood, their liberty or legal position, a child or an adult at risk, specialist technical content throughout, or anything recorded or broadcast - that is RSLI work. So is any assignment where the Deaf person has asked for a Registered interpreter. Tell us what the assignment is and we will make that judgement before we confirm. If it needs an RSLI we will say so and re-quote; you can take the RSLI price or cancel at no cost. We would rather lose the booking than put a trainee somewhere they should not be. WHAT IS INCLUDED The interpreter for the full booked period, their preparation, and their rest breaks. We name them to you before the day and we tell you they are a trainee - you always know who is coming and what they hold. BOOKING AND PRICE Prices include VAT and are 15% below the Registered equivalent. A full day is six hours of interpreting, spread across up to eight hours on site. Beyond six hours the rate is £72.25 an hour, per interpreter. Every request is read by a person before it is confirmed. Book at least 30 days ahead, and send your preparation material with the booking - the form asks for a link or a file and will not submit without one. NOT QUITE THIS? If you need a Registered Sign Language Interpreter, use One-to-One RSLI Support. If the assignment is wider than a one-to-one conversation, it needs a pair - see the Co-worked services.
