Discovering Pompey's Lions
One of the highlights of the trip was discovering Portsmouth's spectacular lion trail. Throughout the summer, 45 beautifully decorated lionsĀ have been displayed around the city before making their way back to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
A particular favourite was Pompey, a colourful lion whose name is displayed in sign language. As supporters of accessibility and inclusion, Stewart and Liz were delighted to see this creative link to the Deaf community.
CelebratingĀ 50Ā YearsĀ TogetherĀ inĀ Portsmouth'sĀ 100thĀ Year
This year has been a particularly special one for Stewart and LizĀ as they celebrated their Golden Wedding AnniversaryĀ while visiting beautiful Portsmouth, which is also marking a major milestone of its own, 100 years as a city.
Known affectionately as Pompey, Portsmouth has been full of colour, history and celebration throughout the summer. With its stunning waterfront, rich maritime heritage and welcoming atmosphere, it proved to be the perfect destination for a memorable anniversary getaway.
Seaside Strolls and Stunning Views
With the weather mostly on their side, Stewart and Liz spent their days enjoying leisurely walks along Southsea seafront, taking in the spectacular views across the Solent and exploring some of Portsmouth's most famous attractions.
From the Historic Dockyard and HMS Warrior to Gunwharf Quays and the bustling waterfront, there was always something new to see around every corner.
A Special Anniversary Celebration
Reaching a Golden Wedding Anniversary is a remarkable achievement, and Portsmouth provided the perfect backdrop for celebrating fifty years of marriage, friendship and shared adventures.
A special anniversary meal gave Stewart and Liz the opportunity to reflect on the memories they have made together over the last five decades and look forward to many more.
A thoughtful dessert presentation added an extra touch of magic to an already memorable occasion.
Buddy Joins the Adventure
No holiday would be complete without Buddy!
The four-legged traveller joined Stewart and Liz on their seaside adventures and quickly made himself at home in Portsmouth. One of the funniest moments came when Buddy tucked himself underneath a bench while everyone else was admiring the view.

Two Golden Celebrations
As Portsmouth celebrates its first 100 years as a city, Stewart and Liz have been celebrating 50 wonderful years of marriage.
Their visit has been filled with sunshine, seaside strolls, colourful lions, historic ships, delicious food and, most importantly, time spent together.
It has been the perfect place for two golden celebrations, Portsmouth marking a century as a city and Stewart and Liz marking half a century of marriage.
Here's to Portsmouth's first 100 years... and to Stewart and Liz's first 50! š„š
