An Unexpected and Heartwarming Reunion at Buckingham Palace
A chance meeting at the Royal Mews became a powerful reminder of what accessible employment can achieve.
Sometimes the most meaningful moments happen when you least expect them.
Recently, Liz Hood, Director of InSignLanguage, travelled to London with two close friends she has known since 1999. The trio spent the afternoon visiting Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style at The King's Gallery, enjoying a fascinating insight into the late Queen's iconic wardrobe and the stories behind her clothing choices.
Little did they know that the day would end with a very special reunion.
A Visit to The King's Gallery
Following their visit to the exhibition, the group admired some of the remarkable pieces on display, from elegant daywear to stunning ceremonial gowns that reflected Queen Elizabeth II's unique sense of style throughout her reign.

An Unexpected Encounter at the Royal Mews
After leaving The King's Gallery, Liz suggested a visit to the Royal Mews.
The Royal Mews is currently where Eugenie, a Deaf young professional supported by InSignLanguage, is working as a Summer Warden. InSignLanguage provides the British Sign Language (BSL) interpreting support that enables Eugenie to carry out her role confidently and independently.
Upon arriving, Liz introduced herself to staff at the entrance and explained that she was from InSignLanguage.
Just moments later, Eugenie arrived alongside Bharti, one of the interpreters supporting her.
When Liz signed her name, Eugenie immediately recognised her.
"I only ever see your photo in the emails from InSignLanguage. I'm so happy to meet you."
Seeing Accessibility in Action
For Liz, it was a genuinely special moment.
While much of InSignLanguage's work happens behind the scenes, this unexpected meeting offered the opportunity to see the impact first-hand.
Eugenie looked confident, professional and completely at ease in her role. It was clear that she was thriving in an environment where accessibility and inclusion are valued.
The colleagues working alongside her were incredibly welcoming and spoke highly of her contribution to the team. Their comments reflected just how valued she is within the Royal Mews team.
